Emergency Care
Emergencies happen. At Millbrae Pet Hospital, our goal is to manage your pet’s health needs as quickly and efficiently as possible. Our veterinary clinic is committed to providing excellent emergency care. Your pet’s safety and comfort are our highest priorities.
During an emergency, our highly trained veterinarians and staff are able to:
- Complete diagnostic procedures, such as imaging or lab work
- Perform routine surgeries
- Monitor your pet’s condition
Emergency services are available during regular business hours:
Monday – Friday: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Saturday / Sunday: Closed
If your pet is experiencing an emergency during these times, please contact us immediately at (650) 583-1500.
Signs of an emergency may include:

- Difficulty breathing
- Ingestion of a foreign body or toxin
- Difficulty chewing or eating
- Coughing
- Bleeding
- Acute trauma or injury
Advanced Care or After-Hours Services
For advanced pet care and after-hours emergencies, our hospital proudly collaborates with Animal Internal Medicine and Specialty Services (AIMSS) and Animal Emergency Services (AES).
A modern, locally owned clinic located in San Francisco’s Inner Sunset district, AIMSS and AES provide a full range of services, including:
- 24-hour emergency and critical care
- Veterinary oncology
- Cardiology
- Diagnostic imaging
AIMSS and AES also provide pet ambulance services to ensure your pet receives the care he or she needs quickly. Transport is provided between Millbrae Hospital and AIMSS/AES using specially equipped vehicles that are operated by experienced technicians. Their goal is the same as ours — the safety and well-being of your pet.
